Upskilling

Upskilling is the process of learning new skills to adapt to the latest advancements or changes in the industry. These changes may include technological advancements, new industry demands, or role-related requirements. Upskilling is crucial to stay updated on the industry’s emerging transformations and to prepare for future challenges. For employees in an organization, upskilling is inevitable as it helps the company to stay competitive.

Use cases:

Upskilling is advantageous in every industry since no industry remains untouched by the impact of emerging technologies. Hence, most upskilling programs are meant to equip the staff with the latest technological knowledge evolving in that industry. For instance, digitalization has urged IT and marketing employees to embrace technology adaptation specifically to gain knowledge in programming languages, AI, cloud computing, digital marketing, data science, etc. In healthcare, employees enter upskilling training programs to update their knowledge of newly discovered medical practices or techniques and hospital management systems. Similar upskilling activities can be observed in other industries including finance, customer service, manufacturing, business management, and many more.
